DEHYDRATION, CAUSES AND PREVENTION

DEHYDRATION

WHat is dehydration?

Dehydration can be defined as when the body loses more water than it is taking.

For our body to function very well it depends on water because most of our standard body weight is water.

CAUSES OF DEHYDRATION

(1)FREQUENT URINATION:This happen when one is battling with uncontrolled diabetes ,too much of alcohol and some diuretics medications.

(2) SWEATING PROFUSELY:This happen when one's work requires so much stress or that one engages in an exercise under a hot weather which makes the person to sweat so much and lose a lot of water through sweat.

(3) VOMITING/DIARRHOEA/RUNNING STOMACH:This can makes the body to lose much water because when one suffers from this the body loses water.

(4)FEVER:When you experience a fever, you often suffer from increased sweating which can lead to fluid and electrolyte loss, and you might eat or drink less fluid due to feeling unwell.

SYMPTOMS OF DEHYDRATION

(1)THIRSTINESS

(2)DRY OR STICKY MOUTH

(3)FATIGUE

(4)MUSCLE CRAMPS

(5) HEADACHE

(6) DIZZINESS

(7) URINE DISCOLORATION

This can happen as a results of dehydration....

(1) When one is dehydrated toxins and acid waste accumulate and this makes it easier to get BLADDER AND KIDNEY INFECTIONS.

(2) Constipation can occur simply because one doesn't drink enough water.

(3)Ulcers, gastritis and heartburn have all be linked to not taking much water.

(4)when the blood becomes thickened due to dehydration, this causes the resistance of blood flow and this results to high blood pressure.

(5)Seizures. Electrolytes — such as potassium and sodium — help carry electrical signals from cell to cell. If your electrolytes are out of balance, the normal electrical messages can become mixed up, which can lead to involuntary muscle contractions and sometimes to a loss of consciousness.

CAN IT BE PREVENTED?..YES,BUT HOW?

PLEASE ..try and drink much water as you can, whether you're sick or not, at least drink (3Lts)of water in a maximum or 8-10 glasses of water in minimum a day.

When working outside be it in a condusive weather or hot weather try and take much water as you can because when you're working the possibility of you sweating is there.

Avoiding alcohol consumption when you are out in the heat because alcohol increases water loss .
