FACTS ABOUT URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI)

What is urinary tract infection ( UTI) ?.

Urinary tract infection can be stated as when bacteria get into the urinary tract and cause an infection.

Though in most cases the bladder can eliminate these bacteria but at other times they can grow and cause an infection.

CAUSES

(1) DEHYDRATION: When a person goes for a periods of time without drinking water and also when someone holds his or her urine for long instead of passing it out from the bladder this can make the urethra to be irritated then making it easier for bacteria to travel up to the bladder and cause infection.

(2) SEXUAL INTERCOURSE:

sexual intercourse can also be a common trigger for UTIs because it can irritate the urethra (the pipe that Carries urine out from the bladder) when urethra is irritated,then it is easy for bacteria to travel up to the bladder and cause infection.

SYMPTOMS

(1) BURNING PAIN WHEN URINATING

(2)FEVER AND CHILLS

(3) DROPS OF BLOOD IN THE URINE EVEN WHEN ONE IS NOT MENSTRUATING

(4) A FEELING OF INCOMPLETE EMPTYING OF THE BLADDER

(5) PAINS IN THE LOWER ABDOMEN / LOWER BACK.

(6) FREQUENT AND URGENT NEED TO URINATE WITH LITTLE URINE PASSED EACH TIME.

PREVENTION

Always drink water at least 2 litres of water or more if you're sweating profusely,doing so will help to flush out bacteria out of the bladder.

Wear cotton underwear

Urinate regularly and try as much to empty ur bladder completely

N.B: A woman's urethra and anus are located closer together than that of the men ,so it is. Easier for bacteria to travel to the opening to another so women should take notice of this following information........

(1) always wipe from front to back after urinating or toileting.The hand you are using to wipe with should be clean so that you do not introduce germs from your hand into the genital area.

(2) change your sanitary napkins and tampons often as blood is a bacteria growth medium

(3) Empty your bladder before sex intercourse and again after ,wipe off moisture from front to back so as to avoid introducing germs to your genital organ.

Are women only the ones that can suffer from (UTI)? , Absolute not.....men can also suffer from it ,but men need to apply the instruction of keeping their undies clean,empty their bladder as well both before and after sex and drink water regularly.
